Terms of Service

Effective Date: 13 August 2026

Last Updated: 13 August 2026

Please read these Terms before booking. By requesting or booking our services, you agree to these Terms where they apply to your contract with us. Nothing in these Terms removes or limits any legal rights you have as a consumer.

1. About Jacks IT Services

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to services provided by Jacks IT Services ("we", "us", "our" or "Jacks IT Services").

Jacks IT Services provides IT support and technology services, primarily through home visits within the United Kingdom.

Our services may include computer support, device setup, troubleshooting, software installation, printer support, smart-device setup, networking assistance and other technology-related services.

2. Our Contact Details

Business Name: Jacks IT Services
Email: admin@jacksit.uk
Website: https://jacksit.uk

3. Who These Terms Apply To

These Terms apply to customers who purchase or request services from Jacks IT Services.

Where you are a consumer, you retain all rights and protections provided by applicable consumer protection law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and, where applicable, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or restrict a consumer's statutory rights.

4. Eligibility

When making a booking, you confirm that:

If you are under 18, you should have a parent, guardian or other legally authorised adult arrange or approve the service where appropriate.

5. Services We Provide

Our services may include:

Not every technical problem can be resolved. We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill, but some faults may be caused by hardware, software, third-party services or other circumstances outside our control.

6. Booking an Appointment

You may request an appointment through our website or by contacting us directly.

Submitting a booking request does not necessarily mean that a contract has been accepted. An appointment becomes confirmed when we accept the booking and provide confirmation to you.

We may decline a booking where reasonably necessary, including where:

Where we need to cancel or rearrange a confirmed appointment for a reason that is our responsibility, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you and offer an alternative appointment where appropriate.

7. Prices and Charges

The price for our services will be communicated to you through the applicable booking, quotation or pricing information.

Where a price cannot reasonably be calculated in advance because the work required cannot be determined until an inspection or diagnosis, we will explain the basis on which the final price will be calculated.

Where applicable, travel charges will be communicated before or during the booking process.

We will not deliberately add undisclosed charges for work that you have not agreed to.

If additional work becomes necessary, we will explain the additional work and its cost where reasonably possible before carrying it out.

8. Quotes and Estimates

Any quotation or estimate we provide will be based on the information available to us at the time.

Where a quotation is stated to be fixed, we will not increase the agreed price unless:

Where a quotation is an estimate rather than a fixed price, the final cost may differ if the work required is materially different from what was originally expected.

We will communicate significant additional costs before proceeding where reasonably possible.

9. Payment

Jacks IT Services currently operates on a cash-only payment basis.

Unless we have agreed another payment arrangement with you in writing, payment is due immediately upon completion of the agreed service.

Nothing in this section removes any statutory rights you may have concerning the quality or performance of our services.

10. Non-Payment

If payment is due and remains unpaid, we may take reasonable and lawful steps to recover the outstanding amount.

This may include contacting you regarding the outstanding balance and, where necessary, taking appropriate lawful debt-recovery action.

We may also decline future bookings where there is a legitimate reason to believe that an outstanding balance will not be paid.

We will not use unreasonable or disproportionate charges or recovery measures.

11. Cancellation and Your Legal Cancellation Rights

You may cancel an appointment by contacting us using the contact details provided above.

If you are a consumer and your contract is a distance contract or an off-premises contract covered by the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you may have a statutory 14-day cancellation period.

Where those cancellation rights apply, they are not removed by these Terms.

There are exceptions to the statutory cancellation right, including certain circumstances involving urgent repairs or where a service has been fully performed following the consumer's valid request to begin during the cancellation period and the required acknowledgement has been provided.

12. Request to Start Services During the Cancellation Period

If you ask us to begin providing a service before the end of any applicable 14-day cancellation period, we may ask you to expressly confirm that request.

Where legally required, we will also explain that you may have to pay for services provided up to the point at which you cancel if you subsequently exercise a cancellation right.

Where the service has been fully performed in accordance with the applicable legal requirements, your statutory cancellation right may end.

13. Cancellation by You

If you cancel an appointment outside any statutory cancellation right, please provide as much notice as reasonably possible.

We do not currently charge a standard cancellation fee for ordinary cancellations made before we have travelled to your location.

However, if we have already incurred a reasonable and directly attributable cost because of your cancellation or missed appointment, we may seek to recover that cost where permitted by law and where the amount is reasonable and proportionate.

We will not use a cancellation charge as a penalty.

14. Missed Appointments and Travel Charges

You should ensure that someone authorised to approve the work is present at the agreed appointment time unless we have agreed otherwise.

If we travel to the agreed location and:

the appointment may be treated as a missed appointment.

Where a travel charge was clearly communicated to you before the booking, that charge may remain payable where we have already travelled to the appointment and the failure to provide access is your responsibility.

Any such charge will be limited to a reasonable amount reflecting the travel or other directly incurred costs and will not be used as an excessive penalty.

This provision does not apply where the failure to attend or provide the service was caused by Jacks IT Services.

15. Rearranging Appointments

Where reasonably possible, we will try to accommodate requests to rearrange appointments.

Repeated cancellations, repeated missed appointments or failure to provide access may result in us declining future bookings where we have a legitimate reason to do so.

16. Home Visits and Safety

Our services may be provided at your home or another agreed location.

You are responsible for providing a reasonably safe working environment.

You should:

We may stop or refuse work if we reasonably believe that continuing would create a serious safety risk.

17. Customer Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

18. Passwords and Access Credentials

Some services may require passwords, PINs or administrator access.

Any credentials provided to us will only be used where reasonably necessary to perform the requested work.

We recommend changing important passwords after the appointment where appropriate.

We will not intentionally retain passwords or access credentials for longer than reasonably necessary for the service.

19. Data Backups

You are responsible for maintaining backups of important files, photographs, documents and other data before we begin work.

Although we will use reasonable care and skill, technical work can sometimes result in data loss, corruption or changes to files.

We strongly recommend creating a current backup before any significant repair, operating-system installation, malware-removal process, device reset or data-transfer operation.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

20. Virus and Malware Removal

We will use reasonable care and skill when attempting to remove viruses, malware or other unwanted software.

However, complete removal cannot always be guaranteed.

Some infections may require a factory reset, operating-system reinstallation or replacement of the affected device.

We cannot guarantee that a device will remain free from malware after the service has been completed, particularly if the device is subsequently exposed to malicious software or unsafe websites, files or downloads.

21. Software and Licences

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the appropriate licence or permission for software you ask us to install.

We will not knowingly install pirated, counterfeit or unlawfully obtained software.

Where licence keys or activation information are required, you are responsible for providing valid licence information unless otherwise agreed.

22. Customer-Supplied Equipment

If you ask us to install, repair or configure equipment that you have supplied, we are not responsible for manufacturing defects or problems that existed before our involvement.

We will use reasonable care and skill when working with customer-supplied equipment.

If equipment is defective, incompatible or unsuitable, additional work or costs may be necessary.

23. Replacement Parts

Where replacement parts are required, we will discuss the available options with you where reasonably possible.

If you provide your own replacement part, you remain responsible for ensuring that it is suitable and compatible.

We cannot guarantee the performance, compatibility or reliability of a customer-supplied component.

Manufacturer warranties remain subject to the manufacturer's own terms.

24. Third-Party Products and Services

Some services may depend on products, software, manufacturers, internet service providers or other third parties.

We cannot guarantee the continued availability, compatibility or performance of third-party products or services that are outside our control.

25. Wi-Fi, Broadband and Internet Services

Where we provide networking or Wi-Fi assistance, we will use reasonable care and skill.

However, we cannot guarantee a particular internet speed, wireless signal strength or coverage where this depends on your internet service provider, property construction, interference, equipment limitations or other factors outside our reasonable control.

26. Smart Home Devices

We may assist with the installation and configuration of compatible smart-home equipment such as cameras, doorbells, smart plugs, smart lighting and similar devices.

Compatibility depends on the manufacturer's requirements, your network, your internet connection and your existing equipment.

We cannot guarantee compatibility between products manufactured by different companies.

27. Technical Limitations

Some technical problems cannot be diagnosed or repaired despite reasonable efforts.

We do not guarantee that:

Where we cannot resolve a problem, we will explain the situation as clearly as reasonably possible.

28. Workmanship and Consumer Rights

We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill as required by applicable consumer law.

If you believe that our service has not been carried out with reasonable care and skill, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible so that we can investigate the issue.

Where appropriate and legally required, we will provide an appropriate remedy.

Nothing in these Terms removes or limits your statutory rights.

29. Complaints

If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us first:

Email: admin@jacksit.uk

Please provide as much information as reasonably possible, including your name, appointment details and the nature of your complaint.

We will consider complaints fairly and take reasonable steps to investigate and resolve them.

30. Our Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:

Subject to the above, we are not responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable or that are caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We will not be responsible for losses caused by:

Where legally permitted, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made.

Nothing in this section prevents you from exercising rights or remedies available to you under applicable law.

31. Refusing or Ending a Service

We may refuse to start or may stop providing a service where reasonably necessary, including where:

Where reasonably possible, we will explain why the service cannot continue.

If we stop a service for a reason that is our responsibility, your legal rights to a refund or other remedy will not be affected.

32. Circumstances Outside Our Control

We are not responsible for reasonable delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Examples may include:

Where possible, we will contact you and attempt to rearrange an affected appointment.

33. Privacy and Personal Information

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection law.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, when it may be shared and your data protection rights.

You can read our Privacy Policy here:

34. Customer Reviews

After completing a service, we may invite you to leave an honest review of your experience.

Leaving a review is voluntary and will not affect the service you receive.

Where reviews are publicly available, we may display or embed publicly available reviews or ratings on our website.

Reviews submitted through third-party services are subject to the relevant third party's own terms and privacy policy.

35. Website Use

We aim to keep our website accurate and available, but we do not guarantee that the website will always be uninterrupted, error-free or available.

You must not knowingly attempt to interfere with the security or operation of our website or gain unauthorised access to our systems.

36. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, content on our website, including our branding, logos, text, graphics and other materials, belongs to Jacks IT Services or is used with permission.

You may view the website for personal and lawful purposes.

You must not reproduce, modify, distribute or commercially exploit our website content without our prior written permission unless permitted by law.

37. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, business practices or legal requirements.

The latest version will be published on our website with the applicable effective date.

Changes will not retrospectively alter rights or obligations under a contract that has already been agreed unless permitted by law or agreed with you.

38. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it lawful where possible.

The remaining provisions will continue to apply.

39. No Waiver

If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, this does not mean that we have permanently waived our right to enforce it later.

40. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Where you are a consumer, nothing in this section removes any mandatory rights or protections that apply to you under the law.

41. Disputes

If a dispute arises, we encourage you to contact us first so that we can attempt to resolve the matter informally.

If the matter cannot be resolved, you retain any rights available to you under applicable law, including the right to bring a claim before the appropriate court.

42. Entire Agreement

These Terms and the applicable booking information, quotation or other agreed service information form the agreement between you and Jacks IT Services for the relevant service, together with any terms that cannot legally be excluded.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove statutory rights or protections.
